My Dear Parishioners:
You’re warmly invited to join our Adult Faith Formation class this Sunday from 10:15 to 11:15 AM. We’ll be diving into Dei Verbum, a rich document from the Second Vatican Council focused on how God reveals Himself to us through Scripture and Tradition. This is a great chance to deepen our understanding of how Divine Revelation shapes our faith. Everyone is welcome!
Dei Verbum, or “The Word of God,” emphasizes that God reveals His heart and truth to us through the Scriptures, Tradition, and most fully in Jesus. Here’s a quick look at the main ideas:
1. Revelation as God’s Communication: God shares Himself with us through creation, history, and most intimately in Christ.
2. How Revelation is Passed Down: God’s message reaches us through both the Bible and Tradition, which together form one treasure of faith, preserved by the Church.
3. The Bible as God’s Word: Inspired by the Holy Spirit, Scripture offers us a way to encounter God. Dei Verbum also gives guidance on understanding the Bible’s message, considering context, historical background, and literary style.
4. Unity of the Old and New Testaments: While the Old Testament prepares for Christ’s coming, the New Testament, especially the Gospels, tells of His life, teachings, death, and resurrection.
5. The Church’s Role: The Church helps us interpret and live out the Word of God, protecting and sharing the faith handed down from the Apostles.
6. Inviting Us into the Word: Dei Verbum encourages us to read and pray with Scripture regularly to strengthen our faith and let God’s Word shape our lives.
Join us as we explore these themes and reflect on how Dei Verbum calls us to a closer relationship with God. We look forward to seeing you there!
In Christ,
Fr. Anthony
