As we approach a new year of faith formation, I want to take a moment to reflect on the importance of our Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (CCD) program. This ministry lies at the heart of our mission to form and nurture the faith of our young people, ensuring that they grow in their knowledge and love of God.
The Church has always recognized the vital role of catechesis. As the Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches, “Catechesis is an education in the faith of children, young people, and adults which includes especially the teaching of Christian doctrine imparted, generally speaking, in an organic and systematic way, with a view to initiating the hearers into the fullness of Christian life” (CCC 5). Our CCD program is essential to this mission, guiding our children toward a deeper relationship with Christ and a fuller understanding of their Catholic identity.
I encourage all parents, grandparents, and guardians to take an active role in their children’s faith formation. Your support and involvement are crucial, as the home is the first school of faith. Together, as a parish family, we can ensure that our children are not only well-prepared for the sacraments but are also equipped to live out their faith in a world that desperately needs their witness.
To register your child for CCD, you can sign up after weekend Masses in the Narthex, or conveniently through our parish website. Alternatively, you may email Sister Ellen directly for assistance. Let us work together in this noble endeavor, confident that our efforts will bear fruit in the lives of our young people.
Thank you for your continued dedication to this vital ministry. May God bless our efforts abundantly.
