As we reflect on our recent national elections, I want to encourage each of you to draw strength from our faith as we move forward together. With the campaigning now behind us, the work of governing begins. Elections often bring diverse perspectives and emotions, and now is the time for healing and unity. As followers of Christ, we are called to be instruments of charity and reconciliation, regardless of the political outcome.
Our faith invites us to respond to moments of division with hearts rooted in Christ’s love. St. Paul reminds us in his letter to the Colossians to “put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.” In this spirit, let us strive to listen to one another with open hearts, respect each other’s perspectives, and remain steadfast in our commitment to building bridges and promoting peace.
Our nation now needs witnesses to understanding and compassion. Let us be mindful of our words and actions, supporting our leaders with prayer and encouragement as they work to serve all people with humility, justice, and a spirit of service.
I invite each of us to turn to prayer in the days ahead, asking for God’s guidance as we seek to be beacons of light and hope in our community. May we remember that our unity as God’s people transcends any earthly differences and that our highest calling is to love and serve one another.
