Our Care for Creation ministry is off to a great start this spring with several big projects!  Anyone who is not already in the Care for God’s Creation group can still join! Just text Brendan at 859-338-7699 or email bosullivan859@gmail.com

Birdhouses

You’ll see a new addition around our Newman property of beautiful birdhouses!  Not only are these colorful works of art for us to enjoy, but they will provide shelter for some lovely songbirds.  If you’re in the neighborhood, stop by our Mary Grotto and offer thanksgiving for this lovely gift for creation.

Raised Garden Beds

Last year, our students build raised beds for a vegetable garden in the backyard of our Rectory (see photos).  As the weather warms up, they will be readying the beds for the spring planting.  This garden will be known as our “St. Kateri Vegetable Garden”, after St. Kateri Tekakwitha.  It’s produce will supply food to the Catholic Action Center.  In addition, our Care for Creation team will be creating a “St. Francis flower garden” in the courtyard area.

Other Projects

In order to care for creation, we need to know what we can do to lessen our impact on the Earth.  Our students are going to find out!  The will be conducting a parish energy audit.  In addition, they will be doing some nature cleanup and establishing a composting program.
