The Backseat Ministry is a great way to help our brothers and sisters suffering from homelessness. Our students have gathered several times to compile bags of necessities like socks, snacks, and personal toiletries.   These bags are at-the-ready in the students’ backseats to hand out to suffering members of our community.  COVID has impacted so many and we see it on our streets.  So many brothers and sisters have been disenfranchised even more as a result of the pandemic.  It’s a blessing to see so many of our students empathizing with the suffering in our community and doing something tangible to help.

“I recognized my need to tithe and when I heard about backseat ministry I felt called that this was the right place to give.”

Supporting those suffering from homelessness is one of the many ways our students are giving alms this Lent.  Our mission is to Form Community. Encounter Christ. Serve Others.  When our students encounter Christ in community they are equipped to serve others.  As Christian disciples, when we serve others, we change the Church, our communities, and the world.  Our Catholic Wildcats also support The Catholic Action Center.

“Then he said to the host who invited him, “When you hold a lunch or a dinner, do not invite your friends or your brothers or your relatives or your wealthy neighbors, in case they may invite you back and you have repayment.  Rather, when you hold a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind; blessed indeed will you be because of their inability to repay you. For you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.” Luke 14:12-14
