Ash Wednesday Liturgies will be celebrated on February 14th at 12:10, 5:30, and 7:30 p.m.
A reminder that Ash Wednesday is a day of fasting.
Catholic Lenten Practices emphasize the combined disciplines of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving which nurture our personal lives of faith and remind us to reach out to those in need. The Church-wide Lenten practices of fasting and abstinence are excellent reminders. All Catholics abstain from meat on Ash Wednesday and all Fridays of Lent, including Good Friday. Fish and shellfish are permitted. Also, all those ages 18 to 59 fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. Fasting allows one full meal, do not eat between meals, and may have additional food not to add up to another full meal. Those who are ill, have chronic diseases, or are pregnant or nursing are exempt.
There are excellent resources on these and other Lenten practices on the US Conference of Catholic Bishops website, usccb.org.
