Holy Spirit Parish/Newman Center Choir, under the direction of Mary Weber Bane, sung at the Black History at Ashland event at the Henry Clay Estate in Lexington, Kentucky in October 2023. This event highlighted and showcased local and national voices, artists, experts, and descendants of the Ashland community. The choir sang a selection of songs by black composers and from the African American spiritual tradition, including: 'Stop By, Lord', 'Give Me Jesus', 'Lead Me, Guide Me', 'Steal Away from "Two Spirituals", and more.
