Our students have been such an inspiration this Lent. Looking back on this past year, they have weathered all of the challenges of COVID with grace and patience. Now, they are living the three pillars of Lent by nurturing their prayer lives with the Sacraments – including a Midnight Summit! In addition, they are actively discerning God’s will in their lives and cheerfully giving alms. It is a blessing to be part of such a group. Their youth, excitement, and energy is contagious! Below are a few highlights of this season:
Fr. Steve’s Series on Discernment – “What Does God Want?”
We presented this series over four weeks during our Monday night “Ignite Series.” First, our students enjoyed a meal at 7 o’clock, followed by a presentation on discernment principles. Finally, the evening concluded with a small-group breakout for discussion on applying these principles in their own lives and situations. Each session attracted between 25 and 40 students.
This series was made possible thanks to a generous donation from our friends at The Serra Club. Our students learned principles that will assist them in making decisions that are in line with the will of God in all stages of their Christian journey. We know that God has a specific plan for each of them, and applying these principles will help them hear God’s voice. As a result, God will lead them to a life of more joy and fulfillment than could ever imagine for themselves. We gave special attention to discerning one’s vocation in life (priesthood, religious life, and married life.)
Weekly Adoration & Midnight Summit
On Friday, March 12th, over 30 students gathered at 10PM for praise and Adoration, followed by hot chocolate and warm cookies. In addition to praying for their intentions, our students prayed for many of our benefactor’s intentions that we have received. We are blessed to offer our students so many opportunities to worship the Lord!
Care for Creation Ministry
Our students take Laudate Si seriously! This spring, they have several big projects in the works. The first project is providing beautiful bird houses around our property. In addition, the students are working the raised beds and completing an energy audit. Read more here!
Please pray for our mission! We continue to pray for you as you live the three pillars of Lent for a few more weeks. Check out this video from Bishop Barron if you need ideas for “finishing strong” this Lent!
